Liverpool are primed for a Premier League title party at Anfield this afternoon but there is likely to be one noteable absentee.
The Reds will be crowned champions should they avoid defeat against a Tottenham side who have a wretched record on Merseyside and could be forgiven for having one eye on the first leg of their Europa League semi-final next week.
Arne Slot’s side has set a relentless pace at the top of the table this season and look certain to be crowned Premier League champions for only the second time.
Liverpool won the title back in 2020 but were denied the chance to celebrate that achievement as a result of the Covid pandemic.
The man who masterminded that triumph, Jurgen Klopp, brought an end to his trophy-laden reign last year and hasn’t returned to his spiritual home since.

Will Jurgen Klopp be at Anfield for title party?
Will the charismatic German be in attending today for a huge party? The likelihood is remote, but Klopp did promise back in March that he would be back at Anfield once the title is in the bag.
He said: ‘Yes, the plan is [to be in Liverpool to celebrate the title] but not on the bus, I will be there with the people I saw on the bus (the fans).
‘That’s the idea to be honest, but we will see. I think I will be there for the last game… I didn’t want to go earlier to be honest because I didn’t want to jinx it all the time.
‘If I’m in the stadium for the first time and they lose, ‘oh f*** sake’. So I go there when it’s decided.’
What has Arne Slot said about Jurgen Klopp?
Slot, who has benefited from his predecessor’s legacy, has done a remarkable job since his appointment in the summer.

Without the need for lavish transfer spending, he has quietly gone about his business and allowed his players to take the credit for a campaign of astonishing consistency.
Rather than block out any talk of the past, the affable Dutchman has been open to the idea of Klopp attending matches and revealed he has sent several invites already.
Speaking earlier this season, he said: ‘I wouldn’t mind him (Klopp) coming,” Slot said. “I invited him, I think, to the (Manchester) City and Real (Madrid) games, but he told me he has a job and is somewhere else in the world.
‘He can be here every single time he wants to come – either to the training ground or the games. He is more than welcome. But at this moment he had a job to do and in the first half of the season he had a job to do with his wife, enjoying life. For me, he is always welcome.’
